Who we are

West Rand Meat Supply is a butchery trading under Delthorn Wholesale Butcheries CC. We are the “responsible party” under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), which means we decide why and how your personal information is used.

What we collect

• The enquiry form on our website: your name, phone number, email address, what your enquiry is about, your message, and the date and time you sent it. Your enquiry is emailed to our shop. A short alert with your message and contact details is also shared with our shop staff on WhatsApp, so please only include what you are happy for them to see.
• WhatsApp: the messages you send us and your phone number when you contact us on WhatsApp, either on our WhatsApp line (+27 82 474 9494) or the shop’s number (083 472 0705).

We only collect what you choose to give us. Please don’t put sensitive information (such as ID numbers or card details) in forms or WhatsApp messages. We don’t need it.

Why we use it

• To answer your enquiries and get back to you.
• To alert our shop staff on WhatsApp when a new enquiry arrives.
• To keep the contact form safe from spam and abuse.

We don’t send marketing messages unless you have agreed to receive them. We do not sell your personal information.

Who handles your information for us

We use trusted service providers to run our business. They process information on our behalf:

• Cloudflare: website hosting and the service that receives your enquiry.
• Google Workspace: email, where your enquiry is delivered to our shop.
• Meta (WhatsApp): messaging, including the alert sent to our shop staff.

These providers may store or process information outside South Africa. We don’t share your information with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and for our business records. WhatsApp message logs held on our own systems are deleted after 90 days.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• ask us what personal information we hold about you and get a copy (access);
• ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date (correction);
• ask us to delete your information (deletion);
• object to us using your information.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to enquiries and messages is limited to our shop staff and the service providers listed above. No system is completely secure, so please contact us if you think your information has been put at risk.

Cookies

Our website does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not store information about you in your browser. The Google Map on our home page is provided by Google, and Google may set its own cookies when the map loads. Links to WhatsApp and Google open services that have their own privacy policies.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with its effective date.
